Colobus Monkey (Colobus guereza)

Kai, a black-and-white colobus monkey, is the acrobat of the zoo’s primate exhibit. His long, silky fur and striking white beard give him a dignified appearance, but Kai is anything but reserved. With his incredible agility, he leaps effortlessly from branch to branch, often performing mid-air flips that leave visitors gasping in amazement.

Kai’s favorite pastime is playing with his troop, engaging in games of chase and gentle tug-of-war with leafy branches. His zookeepers have introduced enrichment tools like swinging ropes and puzzle feeders, which keep his active mind and nimble body fully engaged. One particularly memorable moment occurred when Kai discovered his reflection in a pool of water. Intrigued, he spent hours examining himself, much to the amusement of onlookers. Through Kai, visitors learn about the vital role colobus monkeys play in forest ecosystems, as their foraging habits help with seed dispersal, making them essential for maintaining biodiversity.
