Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus)

Milo, the gray koala, is a master of relaxation and the epitome of cuteness. Nestled in the zoo’s eucalyptus grove, Milo spends most of his day perched on a tree branch, chewing on leaves or napping in his signature curled-up position. Despite his laid-back demeanor, Milo has a curious streak that often surprises his keepers.

One evening, during an enrichment activity, Milo ventured down from his tree to explore a new scent trail created with eucalyptus oil. His slow, deliberate movements enchanted visitors, who rarely get to see koalas in action. Milo’s favorite time of day is feeding, when he receives fresh bundles of eucalyptus leaves. The zoo’s efforts to grow these leaves onsite ensure that Milo has an endless supply of his preferred snack. Through Milo’s story, visitors learn about the challenges koalas face in the wild, from habitat destruction to climate change, and the importance of preserving their unique ecosystems.
